Congratulations to the first CORE Registered Paralegals in Virginia!

On June 11, 2011, 146 paralegals from across the United States passed the Paralegal CORE Competency (PCC) Exam pilot test and earned the right to call themselves CORE Registered Paralegals or CRPs.  Seven of those 146 new CRPs are from Virginia.  The Paralegal Association of Northern Virginia is proud to announce that one is a current PANV member and two others are former members.

Please join PANV in congratulating Kerry A. Bitter, CRP™, of Manassas, Denice L. Moultrie, CRP™, and Christina M. Tatum, CRP™, both of Alexandria, in becoming three of the very first seven CORE Registered Paralegals in the Commonwealth to earn the right to use the CRP™ credential.  Congratulations to Kerry, Denice, Christina and all who passed as they have proven to the legal community that they possess the skills necessary for success in the legal field.

PACE logoThe PCC Exam is sponsored by the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA).  To assist with the development of the PCC Exam, NFPA contracts with the Professional Examination Service (PES), a testing organization with more than 60 years of experience in the development and administration of licensing and certification examinations.  The PCC Exam was developed to test the basic knowledge, skills and ability of individuals who are early-career and entry-level paralegals.  The PCC Exam is based in part on information from coursework in various paralegal programs as well as basic skills considered essential in the paralegal profession.  The PCC Exam is expected to debut in November 2011.  The full Candidate Handbook is expected to be available by download in August 2011.

For the names of all of the new CRPs as well as additional information regarding the PCC Exam, please visit NFPA’s website at www.paralegals.org or address any questions you may have to pcce@paralegals.org.
