About Lori Jones, RP
My name is Lori Jones, RP. I am a paralegal currently specializing in the area of guardianships for Fairfax County, Virginia's Adult Protective Services. I've been in this position for 2.5 years. Last year, I became involved with Wills on Wheels (WOW), a pro-bono Fairfax County program for low-income seniors in need of estate planning documents. Prior to becoming a paralegal, I was employed in the private sector and worked with a sole practitioner and law firms as a legal secretary/legal assistant for approximately 15 years. In 1998, I received my Specialized Associate's Degree in Paralegal Arts and Sciences. In August 2004, I became a Fairfax County Government employee in the Land Use Division of the County Attorney's Office.
In May 2007 I accepted a newly created paralegal position in Fairfax County's Department of Family Services, Adult Protective Services Division. Through hard work, creativity, and dedication, the position has grown into a busy full-time position. I have been a member of the Fairfax Bar Association Paralegal Section since September 2007. In 2007 and 2008, I headed-up the Capital Area Food Bank food drive for the Section, and participated in Back to School Drives and Valentine's Day Projects for the Girls and Boys Probation House. This year, I am secretary to the FBA Paralegal Section. I am a member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA), Local Government Paralegal Association (LGPA), Paralegal Association of Northern Virginia (PANV), and Virginia Alliance of Paralegal Associations (VAPA). In July 2009, I passed the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (PACE) and am proud to be sharing my story with you.
